ARTES Glendinning Lecture
4 Apr 6:30 pm|
What were Velázquez, Carducho, Cano and other fellow artists reading in Golden Age Spain?
Instituto Cervantes and ARTES have invited Marta Cacho Casal, an art historian specialising in Early Modern Art, and particularly the Spanish Golden Age to the ARTES Glendinning Lecture. Cacho Casal holds a PhD from the Warburg Institute and was also recipient of the first Alfonso Pérez Sánchez Prize for her book on Francisco Pacheco. She is currently working on a book about artists’ libraries in Italy and Spain (c. 1550 to 1650). Her talk will touch upon her new research into artists’ reading and collecting books in Spain, in particular the case of Velázquez, Alonso Cano and Carducho.
A complimentary glass of Spanish wine will be served at the end of the event.
