‘Or la cendre’, is a site specific installation by Javier Pividal for the SCAN Project Room.
Referencing Derrida’s title ‘Feu la Cendre’, this project gathers and expands some lines of research recurrent in Javier Pividal’s work through pieces that oscillate between body and word. A large scale text mural organises a series of artworks made of cooper, ash and words.
Javier Pividal (Cartagena, 1971) studies at the Valencia Polytechnic University and the Southampton Institute. He moves to Paris where he develops the project ‘Fragments of a discourse’, exhibited at the Fucares Gallery in Almagro, Ciudad Real, Spain.
He has had solo exhibitions at Louis 21 Gallery (Palma de Mallorca), La Taller (Bilbao), Ogami Press (Madrid) and Artnueve (Murcia) and has participated in several group shows such as Generaciones (2003 y 2005), the Sao Paulo/Valencia Bienale and at Manifesta8 among others.
Internationally, his work has been exhibited at the Cervantes Institute in Naples, the Stenersen Museum in Oslo, the Zuyderzee Museum in Enkhuizen, Magazin 4 in Bregenz ot the Whitebox Gallery in New York, among others. He has participated in fairs such us ARCO, Just Madrid or Estampa (where he obtained the Comunidad de Madrid prize, 2015).
