Pablo Genovés: Tides
1 Mar - 30 Aug|
St Paul’s Cathedral|
Pablo Genovés was selected by St Paul’s to create a series of works on the theme of water, a commission that is part of an international collaboration, Just Water, that will see work inspired by water on display in cathedrals around the world in 2017.
Water brings life and death, rebirth and harvest, flooding and drought, as it ebbs and flows across our planet. Fundamental to the rituals of all religions and symbolic of life itself it is more than fitting theme for St Pauls.
In this series for St Paul’s Genovés works with Wren’s neoclassical where clean lines and harmonious order of musically repeating arches and spheres provide the perfect counterpoint to the cacophony of nature’s chaos as it swells and rises in the familiar interiors.
Pablo Genovés was born in Madrid in 1959. He trained in London (Photographer’s Club, Camera Work Center of Photography, Camden Arts Center) and at the Art Students League of New York. He has reached a significant international presence in photography and his work is part of outstanding private collections and museums in Europe, USA and Latin America. He currently lives and develops his work between Berlin and Madrid.
