PLAN B FOR UTOPIA
21 Aug - 27 Aug|
Plan B for Utopia is a full length work by Dundee based choreographer Joan Clevillé, exploring the role of creativity and imagination as a catalyst for change in our personal and collective lives.
The work is a fresh and original combination of dance, theatre and storytelling, featuring two versatile and charismatic performers. Breaking the fourth wall (and with a good dose of humour), the work creates an intimate space for play and reflection where audience and performers can ‘meet’ in a common endeavor to re-imagine the world. The performance is accessible to a wide range of audiences and particularly suitable for young adults.
Featuring music by Judy Garland, John Lennon and Louis Armstrong among others, the soundtrack of the work reflects the rich utopian tradition embedded in popular culture.
Joan Clevillé has worked as a dancer, teacher and rehearsal director for thirteen years in companies across Europe. His works have been presented in the UK, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain and Japan. He has created works for choreographic platforms at the Graz Opera (Austria) and Scottish Dance Theatre, as well as receiving commissions from Thomas Noone Dance and Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, and Café Fuerte (Austria). Joan has been Associate Artist of Scottish School of Contemporary Dance since 2014.
