Rafael Aguirre & Nadège Rochat: La vida breve

Renowned Spanish classical guitarist Rafael Aguirre and Swiss cellist Nadège Rochat teams up with for an evening exploring the works of de Falla, Granados, Albeniz, Cassadó, Piazzolla, Ravel, Lara and Gardel.
Both musicians are passionate about Spanish and South American music and for this concert program they have arranged their favourite pieces for cello and guitar.
Rafael Aguirre is an internationally acclaimed musician who has been awarded thirteen First Prizes at international competitions (including the Tárrega Competition and Pro Musicis). At the age of 16 he made his orchestral debut with the “Concierto de Aranjuez” and the Malaga Youth Symphony Orchestra touring Spain and Morocco. Later he studied with Professor Michael Lewin at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
He performs regularly in prestigious venues, such as the Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Vienna Konzerthaus, Moscow Tchaikovsky Hall, Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich, Hamburg Laeiszhalle, Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, Saint Petersburg Philharmonia, Cuba’s National Theatre, the Hyogo Performing Arts Center (Japan) or the Seoul Arts Center (South Korea).
Nadège Rochat is a Franco-Swiss cellist born in Geneva in 1991. She began learning cello at the age of 4 and later joined the Conservatoire of Geneva. Moving to Cologne at the age of 15, she studied at the Musikhochschule and in 2015, she graduated from the Masters programme at the Royal Academy of Music. Through an Academy internship, she currently serves as pedagogic assistant within the cello department at the Royal Academy of Music.
This concert is part of IGF London Guitar Festival and is been produced in collaboration with the Office for Cultural and Scientific Affairs, Embassy of Spain in the United Kingdom.
