The English Armada
17 May 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm|

The history of Europe, as we know it, seems to falter in light of this book. Subtitled, “The greatest naval disaster in English History”, it might change the foundations of our understanding of history.
The book details, with a profusion of rigorously contrasted references, how between 1588 and 1589 two of the worst naval catastrophes in history occurred. Great attention has been devoted to the first, the defeat of the Invincible Spanish Armada. While the second, the catastrophe of the English Navy, has received almost none. The book accounts for how important historical events have been neglected for more than four centuries.
Luis Gorrochategui (La Coruña, 1960) is a graduate of Philosophy from the University of Barcelona. He has published more than two hundred articles in books, specialized journals and newspapers, and has given numerous lectures. He teaches Philosophy in Spanish secondary education.

With the Blanco-White Series, the Instituto Cervantes London endeavours to delve into the stories and characters that, over time and to this day, have served to strengthen the links between Spain and Great Britain.
