Three Spanish companies at the GDIF
23 Jun - 8 Aug|
The annual Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF) will take from Friday 23rd June to Saturday 8th July across East and South East London. The free performances include small to large-scale theatrical and acrobatic shows by national and international artists. Among them, the audience can attend to three different productions created by Spanish artists.
Compañía de Circo eia presents ‘Espera’. ‘Espera’ in Spanish covers the meaning of three different angles of experiencing time: waiting, hoping and expecting. The performance thus contemplates from a human perspective the passing of time which is inevitable and resembles the rhythms of nature: a season follows another season and life continuously pauses only in order to start again. 24 – 25 June 2017
Osadia by 2 B Scene S.L. Hairdressing becomes theatre in the barber’s chairs of OSADIA. The audience becomes the central performer and is transformed on stage as styling becomes a showpiece, much to the enthralled rapture of the remaining audience. OSADIA creates original and provocative exhibitions of sophisticated make-up and hair art, set to fantastic music mixes. 25 June 2017
Cia.Maduixa presents MULÏER, a stilt-based performance exploring female identity. In tribute to women oppressed through the centuries, the dancers’ balance, power and movement claims a woman’s right to live freely, to have freedom of expression and, if she wishes, to run uninhibited through the streets. MULÏER is part of Dancing City, an annual celebration of contemporary dance in the urban environment of Canary Wharf that is part of the international Dancing Cities network. 1 July 2017
