Foreword by HE the Ambassador of Spain in the United Kingdom

Welcome to the Office for Cultural and Scientific Affairs of the Embassy of Spain.

Spain and the United Kingdom have old, rich and diverse cultures and languages that have spread around the world. Our nations have contributed to building a global culture, and to this day, we continue to be in the forefront of the creative and artistic production.

My mission in the United Kingdom is to develop and foster the various links that exist between us, and culture and science are some of the most relevant. It is a high priority of this Embassy to act with more intensity in these fields, in which there are more opportunities for the broadcasting and eradiation of Spanish creativity and talent. The internationalization and the prosperity of our country is closely linked to the capacity that we have to make good use of our shared languages, the diversity and plurality of our identities and the richness of wit in all orders, especially in the cultural ones.

The Office for Cultural and Scientific Affairs supports and assists those initiatives that strengthen the presence and prestige of our culture and science in the United Kingdom. Throughout the country, this Office’s duty is carried out in collaboration with cultural institutions, both Spanish and British, to spread the richness and variety of our legacy, as well as the modernity and innovation of the most contemporary creative work and artistic production.

With the means at our disposal, this Embassy and the consulates of Spain in the United Kingdom support the cultural and scientific initiatives in London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds, and many other locations in Britain and Northern Ireland.

The presence and image of Spain in the United Kingdom could not be explained without the constant work and contribution of our researchers to this great country, with whom this Embassy holds a dear relationship through our joint work with the society of Spanish Researchers in the United Kingdom (SRUK).

We welcome you to experience the outstanding talent and knowledge from the Spanish community present in the United Kingdom.

HE The Ambassador of Spain in the United Kingdom

Emma Aparici Vázquez de Parga

We support artistic projects related to dance, music, visual arts, literature, humanities, architecture and design, among others, in collaboration with the relevant English partners and institutions.

Science

Our main purpose is to facilitate the mutual exchange of information between scientific institutions in both countries, whilst promoting joint participation in the research of projects and the mobility of scientists between Spain and the United Kingdom.

The Embassy of Spain also supports and actively collaborates with the Society of Spanish Researchers in the United Kingdom SRUK/CERU. If you wish to contact this scientific association, write to info@sruk.org.uk.
