The association of Spanish Researches in the United Kingdom (CERU/SRUK) invites you to the screening of the acclaimed documentary film A Plastic Ocean, followed by a round table lead by Marc Hudson, environmental activist and PhD researcher at the University of Manchester, and Dr. Annalisa Tirella, professor and researcher at the University of Manchester. The discussion will focus on issues such as technological and social solutions to the massive problem produced by plastic.
A Plastic Ocean looks onto the damaged caused by indestructible materials to our environment. A group of researches and ambassadors of the ocean travel around the world, uncovering the uncanny truth of what lies underneath an apparent clean ocean. The issue with plastic pollution has been exponentially growing decade after decade, with an average of 8 million tons of waste reaching the ocean each year. Due to the relevance of this issue, the European Comission approved its first strategy to protect the earth from the plastic consequences on January 2018.
