Angel VR is a multi award winning virtual reality immersive experience between the main character “angel” (a sophisticated warrior in an impossible world) and a single audience member. This work is designed to be experienced for the Meta Quest 2/3 headset. Suitable for 12+ audiences.

Angel VR has been developed using motion capture optitrack technology, Unreal and Maya software, Motion Builder and Marvelous Designer, using 3D sound to enhance the experience. The angel avatar is based on the real dancer and choreographer Avatâra Ayuso. This work was audience centric, where every development stage was tested with audiences.

Based on the original solo ANGEL choreographed by Avatâra in 2018 for a traditional black box theather, Angel VR was created with three aimes: to increase the emotional engagement of audiences, to give their agency avoiding being a passive viewer and to explore its storytelling tools in virtual environments that could enhance the live performance experience.

This is a production by AVA DANCE COMPANY  in partnership with Rose Bruford College (London) with the support of Arts Council England, MBD Limited and Target3D. ANGEL VR is available to tour from January 2024.
