Discover Madrid’s Prado Museum: past, present and future. Miguel Falomir, Director of the Prado Museum, Madrid joins Gabriele Finaldi, Director of the National Gallery, to discuss the history and dynamic future of Spain’s most eminent art museum, which celebrates its bicentenary this year.
Miguel Falomir has been Director of the Prado Museum, Madrid since 2017. Previously, he was deputy director under Miguel Zugaza, and Curator of Italian Renaissance paintings since 1997. He has been responsible for significant advances in the study of the Prado’s Italian Renaissance paintings, organising numerous exhibitions including ‘Raphael’ (2012), ‘Tintoretto’ (2007) and ‘Titian’ (2003).
Mr Falomir will be joining Dr. Gabriele Finaldi, Director of the National Gallery. He was formerly Deputy Director for Collections and Research at the Prado Museum, Spain, and has been a curator at the National Gallery. A world expert on Italian and Spanish art, he studied at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, has written widely and curated many exhibitions.
