ECHO Rising Stars: Pablo Ferrández
21 Feb 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm|
The Barbican is part of ECHO, the European Concert Halls Organisation, which collaborates each year to give Europe’s brightest young musical stars a truly international platform. The list of emerging classical musicians includes the Spanish cellist Pablo Ferrández.
The aim of the ECHO Rising Stars series is to find young European musicians who possess special qualities, and on the basis of his recent appearances with the London Philharmonic and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Ferrández has insight to spare. Audience will have the opportunity to hear him in a specially-commissioned work by the doyen of Spanish film composers Antón García Abril.
The programme also includes Rachmaninov Cello Sonata in G minor, Op 19 and Bruch’s Kol Nidrei. Both demanding pieces are perfect to reveal the technique and passion of the musician.
Ferrández will be accompanied by the Spanish pianist Luis del Valle.
