Beverley Early Music Festival receives sponsorship from the Embassy of Spain
The National Centre for Early Music, the charitable organisation behind the Beverley Early Music Festival is delighted to announce that the Embassy of Spain is onboard as a sponsor of this year’s event, supporting the opening concert in St Mary’s Church performed by rising stars El Gran Teatro del Mundo.
Based in Spain, this young instrumental group captivated audiences on their UK tour last year and will be visiting Beverley for the first time, performing Life is a Dream (la vida es sueño) a magical musical journey based on the life and times of the Sun King.
Running from 24th – 26th May, this year’s festival – taking the theme of Threads of Gold – weaves together stories of Beverley’s remarkable history through music and song combined together with a distinctly Spanish twist.

Other concerts with a Spanish theme include the award-winning choir Tenebrae performing their acclaimed interpretation of Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Requiem – a masterpiece of the Spanish Golden Age, in the resplendent surroundings of Beverley Minster. Providing the festival finale The Telling present their heart rend(er)ing music theatre show ‘Into the Melting Pot’ which tells the stories of the women of medieval Spain torn apart by religious intolerance.
