This workshop, focused on archaeological research projects and collaborations between the UK and the Iberian Peninsula, will bring together researchers working in the UK and abroad with interests in Iberia and the Islands.
The aims of the event are (1) to provide opportunities to create and consolidate collaborations between different research teams and scholars within the UK and Iberia; (2) to promote new joint projects; (3) to make archaeologists based in the UK and the Iberian Peninsula aware of potential funding opportunities, (4) to foster new collaborations; (5) to share experiences and knowledge about working in the Iberian Peninsula; and (6) to strengthen the relationships between the Spanish, Portuguese and UK archaeological traditions.
This one-day workshop includes short presentations by all the participants aimed at encouraging new collaborations, building synergies, and bringing together researchers with complementary backgrounds and skills.
The programme will include a panel session with experts from the UK, Spain and Portugal, and a closing keynote lecture by a McDonald Professor on the latest trends and significance of Iberian-British Archaeology. Opportunities for socialising and networking will play a central role. Researchers at career stage who are based in the UK and interested in or working on the archaeology of the Iberian Peninsula are welcome. We encourage interested scholars to attend and establish new or strengthen existing connections between British and Iberian academics.
