Federico García Lorca: así fue la vida de un poeta inmortal

Do not miss the chance to experience up and close the new production of Lorca’s incomparable classic, La casa de Bernarda Alba, at London’s wonderful Cervantes Theatre.

Directed by Jorge de Juan following Lorca’s original text, La Casa de Bernarda Alba speaks about the repression, passion and conformity that five daughters experience under the exhaustive control that the titular widowed matriarch excerses over them.

Described by Lorca as “a drama of women in the villages of Spain”, the deliberate exclusion of any male character helps build the high level of sexual tension that is present throughout this masterpiece.

Federico García Lorca (1898-1936), poet and dramatist, is one of the greatest Spanish writers of all times.

Tragically, two months after completing The House of Bernarda Alba,  Lorca was killed by nationalist troops at the age of 38 right at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.

Matinees from Mondays to Fridays at 2:30pm

Evening performances from Thursdays to Saturdays at 7:30pm.
