Leeds Flamenco Festival 2019
28 Oct 6:00 am - 31 Oct 8:30 pm|
University of Leeds|
Leeds Flamenco Festival returns in 2019 with another rich, exciting and world-class programme. This year’s festival will welcome international acclaimed artists of the standing of the guitarist Salvador Andrades, the flamenco singer Esperanza León, the flamenco dancer David Morales and other personalities from the world of flamenco such as Massimo Aresu.
Yorkshire will experience the so called duende or flamenco vibe along its four days of duration. The pogramme will include concerts, talks and workshops based on the flamenco culture.
The famous dancer David Morales will be visiting the city of Leeds for the first time in order to present his new show, called ‘Flamenco Millennial’. In the presentation of his new work, he will be surrounded by two outstanding artists: Salvador Andrades, Paco de Lucía’s disciple, and Esperanza León, who represented Spain in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest.
‘Flamenco Milllenial’ will give guitar, dancing and singing workshops, as well as a talk based on Interactive Flamenco.
The talk ‘Flamenco in United Kingdom’ by Sarah Chambers and the performance of the singer Sergio García, ‘El Kiyo’, will be the opening activities of the cultural week. The presentation and exposition ‘Prelude to Flamenco’ will represent the closure of this festival on 31st Thursday.
Instituto Cervantes has been the sponsor of this idea, as it firmly considers that flamenco is an immaterial World Heritage which seeks for understanding and dialogue among cultures.
