Lumiere Durham 2019: Javier Riera
14 Nov 4:30 pm - 17 Nov 11:00 pm|
In 2019, marking the tenth anniversary of the event, Lumiere will illuminate Durham with light installations by artists from around the globe, re-imagining some of the city’s most iconic architecture and landscapes. As a part of the anniversary edition, Artichoke will showcase the work of Spanish artist Javier Riera.
Javier Riera will create a new large-scale, site-specific light artwork, which will see geometric patterns projected onto the banks of the River wear. The artwork will be viewed from Prebends Bridge (DH1 3EL), a stone-archway in the centre of Durham.
As always, Lumiere Festival will be completely free to visit. A ticketing system will be in place to access the central peninsula area of Durham during the peak hours between 4.30pm and 7.30pm only. Remember, you can visit anywhere else in the festival at any time. Everyone will be able to enter the city centre without a ticket once the ticketed period is over, but it will be busy and you may have to queue.
