The Spanish Resurgence 1713 – 1748 is a study by Christopher Storrs of the extent to which Spain and its king Philip V dominated Europe in these decades. The book considers the extent to which Philip both transformed Spain and to which he built on the legacy of the last Habsburg, Carlos II. It also emphasises the continued importance of the Mediterranean (as well as the Atlantic) both North Africa and Italy, for Spanish policy-makers.

Furthermore, it suggests that Philip was much more in control of Spanish policymaking than is suggested by older studies which emphasise the importance of Isabel Farnese. This is part of a much larger project, aimed at rewriting the history of Spain and its Monarchy or empire in the entire early modern era, c.1474 – 1840.
