Dark Fables: From comics to animation films
18 Jan 2018 - 4 Feb 2018|
Glasgow and Edinburgh|
The work of Alberto Vazquez (illustrator, cartoonist and animation director) has been shown around Spain, France, Italy, Brazil and Korea, having published his illustrations in newspapers and magazines around the work. In this exhibition, his art takes from traditional fairy tales and fables to adapt them to contemporary points of view, with a strong ecological and political echo. With a dark sense of humor, the protagonists of these stories are animals who resemble our human world.
Alberto Vazquez has written and directed short animation as Birdboy, Unicorn Blood or Decorado. His works have been awarded with three Goyas, marking the Spanish highlight for the multiple prizes and recognitions he has received worldwide, including Cannes, Premios Platino and Animafest, among others.
This exhibition gathers Vazquez’s both graphic and audiovisual work together. It presents how the artist adapted his comics and illustration books into animated films.
