Murillo: The Self-Portraits
28 Feb 2018 - 21 May 2018
|The National Gallery
|London
Marking the 400th anniversary of his birth, the National Gallery will be holding an exhibition that celebrates one of the most influential painters of the Spanish Golden Age: Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. Broadly known for his religious paintings and his extraordinary depictions of street children, Murillo was also a notorious portraitist. To highlight this less-known aspect of his work, the National Gallery will gather his two known self-portraits.
With approximately ten additional works, including other paintings by Murillo and later reproductions of his work, the exhibition is an exciting opportunity to appreciate his figure and relevance.
