Music and exile in Francoist Spain

Lecture-Recital presenting Eva Moreda’s books ‘Music and exile in Francoist Spain’ and ‘Music Criticism and Music Critics in Early Francoist Spain’, published by Oxford University Press
The Civil War and the subsequent exile are often understood as a divide between the so-called ‘two-Spains’. In this talk, however, Eva approaches the issue from a different perspective and explores the continuities, similarities and collaborations between the Spanish composers and musicologists who took exile in Europe or America in 1939 and those who stayed in Spain.
The musical programme include songs by Julián Orbón, Julián Bautista, Manuel de Falla and Joaquín Rodrigo, performed by Lorena Paz Nieto (soprano) and Ricardo Gosalbo (piano).
Admittance is free. As the auditorium capacity is limited, registration is highly recommended.
