On the 17th of October 2021, the National Museum of Natural Sciences turned 250 years old. The museum is organising a series of activities to commemorate its anniversary.

On the 17th of October of 1771, King Carlos III founded the Real Gabinete de Historia Natural (Royal Cabinet of Natural History) that would evolve into the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN) that we know today. This Cabinet was one of the first ones that opened to the general public, allowing the education of all citizens without distinction.

During its 250 years of history, the MNCN has contributed to natural sciences and their promotion through scientific expeditions, public exhibitions, and research. To celebrate their continued activity during all these years, the MNCN is organising a series of activities in 2021. They are also preparing a documentary that will capture all the essence of this emblematic museum. You can have a look at the teaser of the documentary below (in Spanish).
