Islington and the Spanish Civil War

This walk is an astonishing opportunity for attendees to learn about the Spanish Civil war, it will allow them to explore how the borough of Islington became involved in the Spanish intrastate conflict as well as the people who emigrated to Spain and who provided support to the Spanish nation. This event will bring together a broad range of people from academics to nurses, to learn about some of the history of Islington and the people that were involved during the late 1930s.

The walk is funded by the Islington Museum, it will start at the Marx Memorial Library and will finish at the Islington Museum and it will be led by a Clerkenwell & Islington Guide. At the starting point, you will be able to learn about the people who were killed in combat in the Spanish Civil War and look at the International Brigade banners. The walk will approximately last one hour to one and half hours. This will be an incredible event that will enable you to have an invigorating walk, meet new people and learn new things about not only the Islington Borough, but also about the Spanish Civil War.

Meet outside Marx Memorial Library at 11am.
