Joaquín Rodrigo: Music, Life and Literature
Luis Vives Hall Embassy of Spain 39, Chesham Place , London, United KingdomRaymond Calcraft and Elizabeth Matthews are the authors of the recently published book, Joaquín Rodrigo Voice & Vision, which contains the first translations into English of many of the composer’s most important writings. The talk will be illustrated with readings from the book, together with several examples of music by Rodrigo himself, and by others, set within the context of the life and times of the composer.

Lecture: Francisco de Zurbarán and the Viceroyalty of Peru
Luis Vives Hall Embassy of Spain 39, Chesham Place , London, United KingdomSpanish Golden Age painter Francisco de Zurbarán (1598-1664), had a prolonged relationship with the Americas, specifically the Viceroyalty of Perú. Despite not having travelled outside of Spain, Zurbarán destined many of his paintings overseas, from Seville’s port. This talk by Akemi Luisa Herráez Vossbrink will consider the collection and reception of Zurbaran's paintings in the Viceroyalty of Perú.
